On May 27, 2016, first meeting of Climate Policy Working Group took place in AEB headquarter in Moscow.
The participants discussed current plans of carbon emissions regulation in Russia, implications and opportunities for business with regard to climate policy developments, and recent Russian business proposals and initiatives, including proposal on global universal carbon pricing, establishment of Russian Climate Partnership, launch of Integrated Program for Climate Initiatives-based Carbon Registry.
Draft approach to developing AEB members’ common position was proposed to include:
- Development of government-to-business dialogue
- Compatibility with international and EU requirements
- Fungibility of mitigation outcomes
- Localization of corporate climate strategies.
Initial List of Companies, who confirmed their interest in participation in the Climate Policy Working Group, includes BP, Shell, Rockwool, Saint-Gobain, IKEA, EY, KPMG, CMS, Baker& McKenzie, ECOCOM.
According to the draft agenda of the Working Group next meeting shall be devoted to Pilot corporate and regional climate initiatives and activities in Russia.
