Climate change has become one of the most discussed issues during the 70 session of the UN General Assembly. 193 countries presented their national Action plans.
Sergey Lavrov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted that Russia is a global leader in greenhouse gases reduction activity. Lavrov also suggested to suppport forest programs in the framework of the UN Forum. The minister stated that Russia should create its own centre for forest conservation and reforestation for the benefit of sustainable development and climate change mitigation.
Vladimir Putin urged the audience to hold the UN-sponsored forum in Russia in order to discuss such problems as scarcity of resources, climate change and habitat destruction more intensively. It is necessary to organize such an event because all countries should unite to address global issues.
Putin considers climate change a global challenge and expresses great interest in the outcome of Paris climate negotiations COP21.
