Innovative solid waste to energy gasification plant

A Russian startup builds innovative alternative energy facilities, which provide a clean and efficient means to convert solid waste into a fuel gas. This gas can be used for power generation or for a variety of thermal processes. The internationally patented superadiabatic combustion technology and unique design provide a sustainable and environmentally friendly thermochemical process distinguished by inherent suppression of noxious exhausts.

Russian company Evroprofile Ltd in cooperation with Institute of problems of chemical physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences have developed innovative waste gasification technology which provides an economically viable solution to the challenges of waste management and climate change.

The technology is based on basic research of high-temperature (>1000°С) superadiabatic modes of oxygen-deficient filtration combustion. The tilted rotary gasifier converts a solid fuel into combustible producer gas with a record chemical efficiency, up to 95%. The producer gas can then be piped to existing equipment where it is fired in direct heat processes such as kilns, boilers, thermal oxidizers, ORC heat to power plants. Further development of the technology is aimed at production of a cleaner fuel gas free of pyrolysis tars for other industrial applications such as internal combustion engines for power generation.

The process utilizes combustible industrial and municipal solid wastes, biomass. or low-quality fossil fuels such as: worn-out tires, waste wood, municipal waste (RDF), biomass, agricultural waste. petroleum and oil waste, substandard coal, coal mining waste. One of the first plants utilizes worn-out railroad sleepers and is planned to have payback period of less than three years.

Europrofile Ltd. brings engineering expertise and experience to bear in the design, construction and ongoing management of the project. Customers also receive expert assistance in financial forecasting and budgeting, site planning, storage and handling. The price of standard 9 MW plant is 115 mln rubles (€ 1 670 760). This technology starts a revolution in solid waste gasification and contributes to global renewable energy shift and climate change fight.
