Scientists of the Irkutsk University managed to create chipboards ecologically safe for people. The scientists have developed a fungi technology, which does not contain formaldehyde. Unique safe material does not emit harmful substances into the air.
Formaldehyde vapors cause dizziness, nausea, cancer, headaches, allergies, and even genetic disorders. A chipboard from environmentally friendly materials replaces harmful resins.
Zinaida Eremenko, a student of Biology and Soil Faculty of Irkutsk State University, decided to create such a project while working on her diploma. Fungal biomass causes has no harmful effects for humans, saves time and means of production, allowing more flexible approach to the production with additional researches. Moreover, the environmental board does not attract rodents or insects.
To date, this project has no analogues in the world. Therefore, the operation has become one of the best in the "Taiga" start-up school. The school creates an innovative project for a small business to implement this work into the large-scale production.
The executive director of the "Taiga" startup school and the head of the ISU innovative development Victor Lantsov is confident the project will be successful and says that the project is presented in a variety of contests for subsidies for the production of materials.
